Cities Creator Connect: At the Heart of Cities: Skylines 2

This week, I had the opportunity to travel to Tampere, Finland, to meet the teams from Colossal Order and Paradox Interactive during the Cities Creator Connect event. The event brought together many of the most influential content creators for Cities: Skylines, including modders, YouTubers, and asset creators.

As I'm under an NDA (non-disclosure agreement), I can't go into specific details about what was discussed. However, I can tell you that the focus was mainly on answering the many legitimate questions we had about the current state of the game and its future. We also gained insight into the reasons behind certain delays, such as the lack of the asset editor, delays in additional content packs, as well as plans for region packs, upcoming CCPs, and the evolution of the console version.

What I can share is that the conversations were incredibly insightful. While there are still some uncertainties regarding timelines, the teams’ vision for Cities: Skylines 2 is quite reassuring. It feels like there will be a clear “before and after,” especially once content imports become possible, whether it's through official expansions or the creative contributions from the passionate community.

This trip to Tampere was also a chance to put faces to the famous names behind Cities: Skylines. Over the course of a few days, I had the honor of spending time with a group of enthusiasts, sharing our ideas about the game, discussing what we’d love to see in the future, and learning about each other’s projects. What struck me the most was the human side of it all. We had open and honest discussions with the teams, not only during the Q&A sessions but also in more relaxed moments outside the meetings.

I’m coming back from this trip feeling recharged and full of optimism. I no longer feel like just a small part of a creative galaxy, but truly like a member of a passionate family. I now have every reason to believe that Cities: Skylines 2 will be a rich and exciting game. And above all, I can’t wait to flood you with new assets as soon as possible!
